Mississauga airport runs are not like the others

Mississauga is Canada's seventh-largest city and the only one on this list where the airport is not somewhere you travel to. Pearson stands in Malton, inside the city limits, so a transfer from Square One is about 14 km and roughly 20 minutes of road.

That closeness changes what matters. On a 90-minute run from Barrie the drive is the service.

The city is also laid out across six highways. The 401, 403, 407, 410, 427 and the QEW all cross it, and the right one depends on the hour.

Mississauga's traffic is the reason a flat rate is worth more here than anywhere else we serve. A metered fare on a 14 km trip that takes 20 minutes at noon and 50 minutes at 08:00 is two different prices.

Terminal 1 handles Air Canada and most Star Alliance carriers. From central Mississauga the approach is Highway 409 or Airport Road to the departures level, and the chauffeur drops you at the airline's own door rather than the far end of the kerb.

Terminal 3 handles WestJet, Air Transat, Sunwing and most other carriers. It has its own road in from Airport Road, and from Malton or Derry Road it is often the quicker of the two despite being further from the 401.

For an arrival, tell us the flight number and nothing else is needed. We track it, and if you clear customs early the car is already there. Meet and greet puts the chauffeur inside the terminal at the arrivals doors with a name board.

Between the two terminals the link train is free and runs around the clock, but with luggage and a tight connection a car between terminals is sometimes the better call. Ask dispatch and they will tell you honestly which one is faster that day.

How early should the limo collect me for a flight out of Pearson?+

For a domestic departure we usually collect three hours before the flight, and three and a half for international. From Mississauga the drive is short, so most of that window is check-in and security rather than road time.

Which Pearson terminal will I be dropped at?+
